Rod's Writing Seminar |

|
June 1968, Moorpark College: Jeanne Marshall and
Rod Serling consult.
Rod taught Jeanne writing and Jeanne initiated Rod's visit
to the college.
Jeanne recounts the day that she met Rod Serling:
“There is nothing I enjoy more than being with a group of writers. I love writers, and I think they will inherit the earth. They are the most sensitive people.”
With these opening remarks, Rod Serling, celebrated author and television writer, launched his first adult seminar session, “Drama in the Mass Media,” on November 7, 1962 at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
These words also launched the beginning of our cosmic friendship......all I could get out when called upon was “I’m just a rank amateur who loves writing.” To which this gallant man replied,
“Jeanne, we are all rank amateurs, every one of us here. We may rise to professional status for a week or two, but we’re right back to being rank amateurs the next week. As a matter of fact, I imagine you are the only one in this room who has had anything published in the Beavercreek News.”Rod responds to writing that Jeanne sent to him.
